Humble & Kind

I just love the Tim McGraw song
Always be Humble & Kind,
so I decided to make a sign
using those words.
I bought the wooden sign from my local Wal Mart store,
I painted it with
Craftsmart acrylic paint, than tried
painting it  uneven and with some spots
a bit heavier to make it look a bit distressed,
did not turn out the way
that I had invisioned it was to look.
I need a lot more work on "distressing" wood.
I used my cricut machine to cut
the vinyl words, and used cricut transfer
paper to adhere the letters
to the wood sign.
I am on the hunt for more signs, will be
going to my local craft store this next
week.  I went to Michael's Craft
store but did not like the wood
assortment that they had.
If you have any suggestions or great
ideas on how you "distress"
your signs I would love to hear about it.

Until next time.

Valentines Day designs

We are slowly recovering from our
big snow storm that hit us last Tuesday.
We received 8-10 inches of snow, and for
those of you that know the Portland
Vancouver WA area, that is unheard of for us.

Even though I still had to work
I did find time to make some
Valentine's applique designs.
This trio of hearts is nice for when you are in
a crunch for time, but still need to make
some towels, or a tote bag to give to that someone
special for Valentine's day.  It is super easy
and sews up quickly.
You can check it out here

Here is another one, this little bird
is so adorable, and I believe that it can
be used for more than just Valentine's day,
don't you?
This one is here
in my Etsy store as well.
I think that this would be super cute
one a baby onsie.....

Alright that is it for now.
Thank you for stopping by.

Electric Quilt 7

My dear hubby bought me
Electric quilt 7 for my Birthday in December.
I have been playing around with it 24/7 it seems
since I got it.  I like sewing, quilting, digitizing,
& machine embroidering & have taught
my self everything thanks to blogging &
youtube videos ect....

Here is a Valentines table runner that I designed
with the EQ7 program.

I have the pattern for sale in my Etsy store,
you can take a
look at it here if you wish.

As you can see I need to improve on lining up my seams,
they are not all perfect, but it is just fine for me.

I like the pinks and reds along with the scrappy look, this
could also be made using all the same colored fabrics for
a bold look, the hearts would really pop if they
were all the same red or pink color, but thats the
fun of quilting, right.

I invite you to take a look at my Etsy store
for this pdf instant download pattern and
all my machine embroidery
instant download digitized items.

Until next time, have a wonderful day.

Preparing for Snowpocalypse 2017 in Portland OR

We are expected to get snow and freezing rain here in the Portland Metro area starting tomorrow after noon, and if you know Portland, that means that the town will literally shut down, one good thing is that it is going to happen over the weekend so hopefully there will not be 1,000 of commuters on the roads trying to get home.

Last time this happen which was just about 3 weeks ago cars were sliding into each other like bumper cars, people were abandoning their vehicles, school buses were getting kids home after 7 pm. and it was taking drivers 3-6 hrs. to drive 30 miles, it was complete chaos.

This is a picture that was taken of a busy Interstate here in Portland - I84,  and as you can see people were just pulling over to the side of the interstate and walking away, I am not sure why any one would do that but they did.

So, I am keeping my fingers crossed since I do have to go into work tomorrow, that we do not have another round of this icy messy stuff to start off the new Year.

How is the weather in your neck of the woods, are you dealing with freezing temps, snow, ice, freezing rain, winds, etc.....

Until next time.
